Show a wooden pole with three silk scarves hanging from it, two red silks and one blue silk. The blue silk is on the end. Each time the pole is passed behind your back, the blue silk apparently jumps from one end of the pole to the other end. In fact, the pole is just being turned around behind your back!
The silk "jumping" is repeated until the audience sees through this folly and demands some real magic. Pass the pole behind your back one more time, and the blue silk has magically jumped to the center and now there is a red silk at each end!
