THE MAGIC OF MAX MALINI

Magic of Max Malini DVD

Max Malini was one of the great magicians of the 20th century.  He lived from 1873 to 1942, and at his peak performed for several US Presidents, had command performances at Buckingham Palace, and received gifts from monarchs across Europe and Asia.  Few people alive today had the opportunity to see him perform, entertaining and bewildering audiences around the world.  Paul Daniels provides a remarkable study of Malini and his magic for contemporary audiences.

Paul Daniels is one of the most successful magicians of all time. He made worldwide headlines with his top rated television shows, extensive live performances, and the fortune he acquired through magic.

In 2003 he staged a one-man show as a tribute to Max Malini.  The popularity of Paul's Malini show led to an expanded edition that ran in London's West End in 2004.  This DVD captures the London show in its entirety where you see Paul present many of Malini's legendary routines and stunts.  Along with the magic Paul creates the historical background of each routine as well as recounting amusing and sometimes infamous anecdotes about Malini's life and career.

This is your only opportunity to see the excellent magic and wonderful stories presented by a current master of magic in a tribute to a past master.

Special DVD Features:

QUADFLEX

Quad Flex$

If you can fold a bill into eight pieces, you can do this trick!

A crisp dollar bill is folded up.  When it's unfolded, the bill is seen in four quarters - literally.  The ends of the bill have now gathered in it's center.  Let them touch the mismade bill - it's real money!

Just as easily, the bill is returned to its natural state.  This is a trick that you'll carry with you everywhere you go.  Extremely deceptive and extremely easy to do.  Made from real US currency.  Available now at Tin City Magic.

SIMPLY SYDNEY

Simply Sydney

SIMPLY SYDNEY is strong, commercial card magic.
Along with the help of his mentor J.C. Wagner, Syd Segal has compiled an arrangement of effects on this DVD stretching from simple openers (Double D's and Aces) to devastating closers (A Logical Lesson).  Simply put, simply Sydney...
A Logical Lesson (JC Wagner & Syd Segal):  Combine a little bit of sleight of hand with mathematics and what do you get?  A killer routine with a beginning, middle and a "logical" ending!
Collector's Edition:  This is no ordinary Collectors routine.  After the Kings successfully locate and trap the 3 selections, the feat is repeated by the magician under test conditions.  Not only do the selections reappear a 2nd time in the magicians hands, but the King packet cleanly vanishes as well!  And, it's impromptu!  Syd also tips 3 additional alternate endings that are possible with Collector's Edition.
No Lap Reynolds:  Varied from several routines of Steve Reynolds, this Ace Assembly starts off using Kings, but ends in a very unexpected way!
Double D's and Aces:  From a spectators shuffled deck, the 4 Aces are spelled to and located in this baffling 4 of a kind production.  Also included is an explanation of JC Wagner's "no sleight" method, aptly titled Commercial Aces.
G.A.F.T:  A sandwich routine that includes a visual "split" of the selected card in to the "sandwiching" Jacks followed by a clean triplet of effects - A production, vanish and reappearance.  This routine looks like real magic!
Triumphant Turn-Down:  Another clean and fair Triumph routine that goes right by the most suspecting!  A great routine that you will do!
Indications:  A multi-selection routine that climaxes with an ultra-clean double color change.

BAMBOO CHEST MYSTERY

Show a beautiful Chinese Chest and a tall glass tumbler of milk.  The tumbler is placed and LOCKED IN THE CENTER of the chest so that it cannot move.  Four solid steel blades are pushed thru the cabinet.  Then your magic wand is pushed thru the center, from side to side.  THIS LEAVES NO PLACE INSIDE THE CABINET FOR A GLASS OF LIQUID, STILL IT'S THERE!  To prove the tumbler is still there, the wand and blades are removed.  The front of the cabinet is opened, and there is the glass, still locked in position.  It is removed and the liquid is poured out.

This is one of the best appearing apparatus items, and one of which we are very proud.  Quality from start to finish, beautifully decorated and, most important, a real FOOLER.  This is the new and improved model.  All of the blades, as well as the wand, may be examined.  Can be worked both close up and surrounded.  Looks great on stage as well!  Complete with chest, blades, glass, and instructions.  You supply the magic wand and the beverage.  Available today at Tin City Magic!

FULTON'S CLIP JOINT PLAYING CARDS

Post WWII Los Angeles.  In the dead of night you enter Fulton's, a clip joint hidden in the murk of downtown.  Take your seat and stash your heat; your drink is on its way.  Smoke curls along the crown molding and lingers in the air.  What little light there is tingles through the vapors as a femme fatale appears between the shadows.  She'll be by soon.  Get cozy, you're in for the night - it's either that or put up a fight.  In a few hours your boys will join you.  For now, a deck of cards from inside your coat is tossed on the table and your fedora set aside.  As broads sit and sip, gents go for the grift.  Are you in?
Fulton's Clip Joint Playing Cards celebrate our fascination with cinema, history, and the art of the grift.  Taking inspiration from vintage Los Angeles and Film Noir, Fulton's captures a time and place where men were men, women were dames, and the next deal could be your last.
These limited edition playing cards are produced by Dan and Dave Buck.  They feature original artwork by Dan Phillips and are beautifully encased in a linen box with embossed ornaments and foil stamping.  The deck features many distinctive touches and they are perfect for the card manipulation performed by Dan and Dave Buck.  Or, you could just play cards with them, and turn an ordinary evening into something special.  Available now for a limited time at Tin City Magic.

TOPSY TURVY CRAYONS

MILK GLASS

The milk is sealed inside!

This mechanical wonder consists of a 12-ounce clear plastic tumbler with imitation milk sealed inside.  It never has to be emptied or filled!  The glass is large enough to be seen even on a big stage!  Toss it in your case - it's always ready to go.

It works like the classic Milk Pitcher.  Apparently pour milk from the glass into a paper cone - the audience sees the milk is gone from the glass, leaving only a small amount at the bottom.  Still, the milk has vanished from the paper cone!  Actually, no milk ever leaves the glass.  It just appears to!  This is an outstanding item, made to professional standards.  Imported from Germany.  We only have a few of these at Tin City Magic, so get yours before they're gone!

STATIC

Static

STATIC is another fine DVD production from Dan and Dave Buck!

With the spectator's finger touching the top of the deck, the deck slowly splits itself in half.  With a delicate touch, their chosen card shoots out of the pack.  The deck is completely examinable before and after the effect.  They will find nothing.  They will have no explanation.

From the mind of David Jade and Damien Vappereau comes Static.  A simple, powerful, beautiful effect that is as practical as it is evocative.

Static was directed by Dan and Dave and shot in High Definition.  Everything you need to perform the effect is included, including ample supply of the gimmick you'll need to make the magic happen.

Often the most powerful magic is the simplest.  Static is attributed to this mentality.  The spectator places their own finger on top of the deck, slowly moves it to the side, and half of the pack moves along with it.  Magic does not get much more interactive than that.

Easy to learn and simple to perform.  This is one of those few effects that allows you to focus on your presentation and performance, rather than the technique.

Available now in limited quantities at Tin City Magic.

MAGIC VISION

A small plastic box and a cube with a different color on each side are examined.  Spectator secretly places cube in box remembering topmost color and puts on the lid.  Magician correctly names the chosen color!  This is one great pocket trick!  Get yours today at Tin City Magic!

MAGIC ROULETTE

A clever principle that works for many different tricks and effects.  You will be thinking up new uses every day!

Show 6 numbered envelopes, explaining that one contains a valuable prize.  Spectators choose 5 of the envelopes by rolling a die.  Each envelope they choose contains a blank slip of paper.  The last envelope, left for you, contains a $100 bill!

Instead of the envelopes, you could use numbered bags or boxes.  Working for children, they select five of six bags, discovering each contains candy or a small toy.   But your bag has a lump of coal!

For a trade show or business meeting, the audience selections all contain the sales manager's business card - and you end up with the company's product!

Or, on stage, you could have 6 large numbered panels.  Audience members select 5 of the panels.  Each of those panels is shown to have a toy doll behind it.  But when the panel left for you is turned around, behind it there is a very attractive girl!

Tin City Magic supplies you with a large wooden die, six numbered envelopes, and instructions.  Share the magic!

BAMBOO CHINESE STICKS

Bamboo Chinese Sticks - just in time for Earth Day!

A classic of magic.  Two bamboo poles, one with a short string and the other with a long string, with tassels at the end of each string.  When you pull the short string, the short string becomes long and the the long string becomes short.  You repeat, but the audience thinks the two poles are connected at the front.  You separate the sticks at the front, and the trick still works.  Now the audience thinks the poles are connected at the back.  Finally, you separate the poles entirely and still the pulling the short string makes the short string long and the long string short!

A great trick that you can use in a living room or on the largest stage.  Easy to do, very baffling, with much opportunity for humor!  Our Bamboo Chinese Sticks are made of natural renewable bamboo and feature bright red strings with large tassels.  Very smooth action and a favorite of professionals worldwide.  Get yours today at Tin City Magic!

REFLECTION

Reflection

An exquisite selection of ingenious effects from one of our era's finest card magicians, Bill Goodwin.  Included is material culled from his hard to find lecture notes as well as several effects never before published.  This is the first time a collection of his secrets has ever been released on DVD.
Using only an ordinary pack of cards, discover the secrets of a true sleight of hand artist and experience the wonderful card magic of Bill Goodwin.
Oxnard Split: A highly visual handling of Paul Harris' "Las Vegas Split." A Four transforms into two Twos followed by each of the Twos transforming into two Aces.

One Off: The magician attempts to find a selected card, however, he is off by one. To remedy the situation, the magician splits the card into two cards to reveal the selection.

Off Balance Transposition: A three-phase routine where a selected card and the four Aces repeatedly switch places culminating with a visual transformation of the selection into the four Aces.

The Paint Brush Change: Roy Walton's wonderful full face visual change of one card into another happens instantaneously as you "wiggle" the card.

Double Lift Unload: A deceptive technique for unloading the lowermost card of a double so that it appears as if the card never goes flush with the deck.

About Face: A card held at your fingertips turns over visually with just a stroke of your thumb. A handling for Alex Elmsley's "Turn-About Card."

Twisting the Kings: A direct handling of Dai Vernon's classic "Twisting the Aces: finishing with all four cards turning over simultaneously.

The Mirage Trick: The magician offers to show the audience a mirage. A selection is produced between two cards, but immediately vanishes proving that its appearance was just a mirage. Included in the explanation is a handling of the Bluff Pass.

Spectator Cuts to the Aces: A clean and direct handling of this classic plot. The method highlights a versatile unloading technique that can be applied to other effects.

Mistaken Sandwich: A card is produced between two others. Realizing that it is not the selection, the magician causes it to change into the correct card. The three cards can be examined.

Reciprocity: The four Kings and the four Aces change places instantly. Two handlings are included.

Hold the Mayo: The four Aces are produced one at a time from between two Jokers.
With over 2.5 hours of performances, in-depth instruction and the complete history behind each routine and sleight, Reflection is not simply a DVD on tricks, but an important course for the advancement of your card magic.  Shot in High Definition with multiple camera angles.  Includes a 10 page booklet for reference and complete history of each effect.  An amazing Dan and Dave Buck production.  Limited quantity available now at Tin City Magic.

Many magicians would love to feature an illusion in their shows, but don't because it isn't practical.  Here is a great illusion that you can take anywhere, do anywhere, and amaze everyone!

QUANTUM MECHANICS

Quantum Mechanics reveals Irving Quant's finest card magic and features a revolutionary new technique for controlling not just a single card, but multiple cards in a way you probably never imagined. He calls it the Distribution Technique, and in our opinion, unlocks a whole new level for card magicians.  The insane variety of tricks that are taught on this DVD truly are some of the most astonishing pieces of magic that can be done with your own deck or even a borrowed deck of cards.

What is the Distribution Technique?
The Distribution Technique is a utility move, like the Clip Shift, that can be applied to literally endless applications. On Quantum Mechanics, Irving explains many of its possibilities with several of his favorite effects.
Sleights:

Distribution Technique: Many of the tricks on this DVD heavily rely on this technique. It's a new priciple in card magic that allows for many new ideas. It's a technique for controlling multiple cards throughout the deck or the opposite of a multiple shift.

Thering Multiple Shift: Irving's method for controlling mulitple cards from the center of the deck to the top.

Atfus Variation: Irving's variation of the Atfus switch, a technique used to switch cards undercover.
Tricks:
Shotgun: Immediately after any four of a kind, let's say the Kings, are clearly shown on top, the pack is riffled causing them to vanish. The cards are then spread to show the Kings are now evenly distributed face-up throughout the deck.

Katana Spread: A mysterious production of four cards that visually appear face-up as the deck is spread across the table.

Pure Slap: The four Kings are face-up on top of the deck as the spectator places the four aces face-up throughout the deck. The cards are cleanly squared with nothing to see. With just a riffle of the cards, the Kings and Aces instantly transpose. The four Aces are now on on top and in the center are the four Kings. This is without a doubt the most direct handling of this classic effect. There is no setup and it can be instantely repeated.

Back Slap: Back Slap is a variation of Pure Slap that has fooled many magicians and is great for your most skeptical spectators.

Samurai Kut: From a shuffled deck, the cards are tossed onto a table. As the cards land, they break into four even packets. The spectator can now turn over the top card of each to reveal the four Aces.

Nyquist 1: The four Kings are placed face-up on top of the deck. Four selections are now removed and clearly inserted back into the deck. Everthing is squared. With just a riffle, the Kings vanish from the top. The deck is spread out to show the Kings are now face-up throughout the deck and directly next to each selection.

Nyquist 2: In this variation of Nyquist 1, having four selections isn't necessary. After the four Kings are removed from the deck, they are set aside. The deck is now spread to show all the cards are face down. The cards are squared and the Kings placed on top. With just a riffle, the Kings vanish. The cards are now respread to reveal the Kings are now face-up in different parts throughout the deck.

Ricochet: This is a beautiful version of Bill Goodwin's Slap Exchange. Continuing with the theme of four card transpositions, Ricochet delivers like no other. Similar in effect to Pure Slap, but with the most surprising kicker that leaves no explantion.

Ace Cutting 1: Irving's tribute to John Scarney's "Cutting to The Aces." After the cards have been thorougly mixed, you prove that no breaks, crimps or jogs will be used. You then proceed to cut to the four Aces.

Ace Cutting 2: Similar in effect to Ace Cutting 1, however, in this variation, you explain that the reason why you were able to cut to the Aces is because they were marked as you turn them over to show they're a different back design from the rest of the deck. It doesn't stop there though as you now turn over all the cards to show they're blank.
A quality production of Dan and Dave Buck, Quantum Mechanics is available now on an all region DVD at Tin City Magic.
