An ancient skeleton key is shown. It is a solid metal key, plated in gold.
You then do the impossible. You actually slide the bit, or teeth, at the end of the key up and down the key shaft. The audience can see the bit moving.
You then rotate the bit 360 degrees around the shaft. You can stop at any point and show the bit. You are clearly changing the properties of the metal and transforming the key in unimaginable ways.
Finally, with the bit resting near the head of the key, you hand everything out for examination. The bit is now permanently affixed to the shaft near the head of the key.
