BAMBOO CHINESE STICKS
A classic of magic. Two bamboo poles, one with a short string and the other with a long string, with tassels at the end of each string. When you pull the short string, the short string becomes long and the the long string becomes short.
You repeat, but the audience thinks the two poles are connected at the front. You separate the sticks at the front, and the trick still works.
Now the audience thinks the poles are connected at the back. Finally, you separate the poles entirely and still the pulling the short string makes the short string long and the long string short!
