You place the rabbit in one house. He vanishes from the house, but the audience saw him run to the other house. When you look in the second house, he runs back to the first house.
Wherever you look, there is no rabbit. He is always one step ahead of you.
The rabbit runs back and forth, and even peeks out the side, much to the amusement of the audience.
