A nicely decorated big box is introduced. When opened a big clock is seen mounted inside the box, similar to the ones used to teach children time.
A spectator is asked to mentally select any hour between 1 and 12.
While you turn away, the spectator turns the clock to the selected time so the audience can see it, but you cannot. The box is then closed and locked.
You turn around and show all sides of the box. The box is totally closed and the selected time cannot be seen. The spectator can inspect the box and confirm that it is impossible for anyone to tell the time.
Now ask the spectator to concentrate on the selected time. You read their mind and announce the selected time!
The box may be opened to confirm the clock is set to the time you mentally divined!
May be used as a standalone effect, or in conjunction with a longer routine, such as Hen Fetch's Mental Epic.
