THE BEST PRACTICAL JOKE
Puff cigarettes epitomize the classic practical joke because they combine a "fake" item along with play acting to complete an illusion.
For those of you unfamiliar with the puff cigarettes, these are very realistic fake cigarettes. The end glows red, there are scorch marks on the sides along with gray ash, but the real kicker is the puff of smoke that comes out.
When the victim sees that smoke, he or she is convinced that you have a lit cigarette going and so that's when the fun starts. You could carelessly drop the cigarette on the new carpet for example, or flick it maliciously at the couch. Or puff some smoke out of the cigarette in an elevator or non-smoking environment. If somebody says something to you, put the cigarette in your pocket or behind your ear. That will get them going.
For the lady prankster, pull the cigarette out of your purse, expel a cloud of smoke, then throw it back into your purse. Practice in front of a mirror with the puff cigarettes before you try it for real. Work on the casual look.
The illusion of "smoke" from Puff Cigarettes is created simply by powder. You blow into the tube to expel a cloud of powder. Tap the filter end on a hard surface every now and then. This loosens up the powder and makes it work better. When the powder eventually runs out, you can refill them. Just pull out the little piece of cotton in the filter end and put in a bit of corn starch.
Magicians use them for cigarette manipulations. Theater people use them for roles that call for smoking. Pranksters use them everywhere.
