Show a small 2 inch square wooden cube with different colored sides. While your back is turned a spectator places the cube in a plain wooden box and covers the box with a lid making it impossible for anyone to see which side of the cube is up.
The spectator then concentrates on the chosen color and you use your magical powers to remotely sense which color is facing up inside the little wooden box. You do not need to touch the box containing the cube or even look at the box with the cube.
You can keep your back turned to the cube holder and still tell which color is up. You can even be in the next room and still know which color was selected.
